The Challenge

The DR Congo is one of the poorest countries in the world.  Despite its abundance in natural resources, it is ranked second to last (186 out of 187 countries) in the 2014 United Nations Human Development Index.

For the last 25 years, the DRC has been facing a continuing complex, multi-factor humanitarian crisis. Violent armed conflicts in the regions we work in have displaced close to 3 million people causing continuing epidemics and extreme poverty.

The ongoing instability caused by the reoccurring violence has created a continued uneasiness that is also compounded by political instability and a recurrence of natural disasters (active volcanoes).

The humanitarian situation remains precarious at best and is in dire need of our support.
